SEC-registered hedge funds

Form ADV is public for registered US advisers. It is not an email list. What the filing shows, and what is only in the Hedge Fund Contacts file.

A lot of US hedge fund managers file as investment advisers with the SEC. The public filing is Form ADV. You can look it up on IAPD. That is the right first stop if you need to confirm a legal name, an address, or whether the firm is registered at all.

It is not an email list.

What ADV is good for

ADV is a regulatory document. Typical parts that help a contact search:

  • Legal name and any “doing business as” names
  • Business address and phone
  • Website, when the firm lists one
  • Whether the firm is an SEC-registered adviser
  • Ownership and disciplinary items, when they apply

That is enough to decide the firm is real and to match it to a public fund profile. It is not enough to write a named person.

What ADV does not give you

Item 1 will not hand you four executive inboxes. ADV is not a people sheet. It does not store a careers mailbox you can drop into a CRM. Guessing firstname@domain from a filing is not a found address.

If the job is outreach, you need a researched contact file. The filing is the check. The file is the list.

What the paid file adds

Hedge Fund Contacts sells one complete list: Excel and CSV, $497 one time, twelve months of updates, no autorenew. As of 15 August 2026 that file includes 5,110 hedge fund managers. That is our workbook, hedge-fund rows only, not a regulator census. The coverage page is the source of record.

Emails live in the file, not on the public profiles. The buyer workbook has a firm sheet (one row per manager) and a People sheet (Name, Position, Company, Email). The firm row is where a main mailbox and a careers mailbox sit when we have them. How those two addresses differ is on main email vs direct email. The lookup path is on how to find hedge fund emails.

The file also records whether a manager is SEC-registered. That flag is useful for a filter. This page does not publish a count of how many rows are marked registered. We will not invent that number. A named table of registered firms waits on a dated CombinedMaster extract.

This is not an SEC-only product. We sell the complete list, including managers that are not SEC-registered.

How to use both

  1. Confirm the firm on IAPD or the public profile.
  2. If you only needed the filing, stop.
  3. If you need to write someone, use the file. Start with the sample if you want to see the shape first.
